(A story that is a complete family collaboration, developed on a drive home from somewhere.)

Harry the Dog was so hairy he could put his hair in 27 ponytails. So, one day he did just that.

When his friend Harry the Other Dog came to see him, Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails noticed something was different about his friend.

“What is different?” Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails asked Harry the Other Dog.

“My man took off all my hair,” Harry the Dog with No Hair told Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“That is awful. My hair is so long I have put it in 27 ponytails,” said Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“I’d think with so many ponytails, you might be able to spare a few Harry. It’s awfully draughty with no hair,” Harry the Dog with No Hair told Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“I’ve known you for a long time Harry. If you’re cold, then I will give you some of my ponytails,” said Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“How many?” asked Harry the Dog with No Hair.

“I was thinking I would give you 13, which would, of course, leave me with 14,” offered Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“That doesn’t sound right to me,” surmised Harry the Dog with no hair. “Give me 13 and one half ponytail and we will both have the same.”

Harry the Dog though about this.

“That is good for me,” Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails agreed. “Let me go inside my house and fetch some scissors.”

A minute later he re-appeared with scissors in his paws. And he began to cut off his ponytails.

“Here,” said Harry the Dog with 14 ponytails. “These 13 ponytails are now yours.”

Harry the Dog with 13 ponytails accepted them. “And what about my other half of a ponytail?”

Harry the Gog with 14 ponytails considered this. “Can you cut one in half?”

Yes,” said Harry the Dog with 13 ponytails, and then he snipped one of Harry the Dog with 14 ponytails remaining ponytails and held it above his head.

“We now both have 13 and a half ponytails,” Harry the Dog with the other Harry’s 13 and a half ponytails. “But mine are in may hand and yours are on your skin.”

So Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails on his skin went back inside and came out with a glue stick. “We will glue your ponytails onto your skin.”

So Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails in his hand gave his 13 and a half ponytails to Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails on his skin and waited as he applied the ponytails to his skin.

When he was finished, the Harry’s were nearly indistinguishable.

“I think I looked better with no ponytails,” Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails glued to his skin said.

“And I looked better with 27 ponytails,” said Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails properly stuck to his skin.

Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails glued to his skin quickly became Harry the Dog with no hair again and handed Harry the Dog with 13 and a half ponytails properly stuck to his skin his other 13 and a half ponytails, making him once again Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“I feel better,” said Harry the Dog with 27 ponytails.

“So do I,” said Harry the Dog with no hair.

And they lay down on the ground and shared a bone.

So Dylan has yet to meet a dog with ponytails? We’ll have to see what other animals we can get into ponytails.
